Shrimp boil
Recipe by1/2 cup Old Bay Seasoning
2 tablespoons salt
4 quarts water
1 (12 ounce) can beer (try to use something delicious, it will come through)
8 medium red potatoes, cut in quarters
2 large vidalia onions, cut in wedges
2 lbs smoked sausage, cut in 2 inch lengths
8 ears corn on the cob
4 lbs large shrimp, in shells
1. If eating family style, put a large piece of plastic over the table (like a drop cloth or tarp). Cover in layers of newspaper.
2. In a large stock pot, bring Old Bay, salt, water and beer to a boil.
3. Add potatoes; cook over high heat for about 5 minutes.
4. Add onions and cook for another 3 minutes.
5. Add smoked sausage; continue to cook on high for 5 minutes.
6. Add corn to pot; continue to boil for 7 minutes.
7. Add shrimp in shells, cook for 4 minutes.
8. Drain cooking liquid.
9. For family style dining, dump in the middle of the newspaper covered table, break out the paper towels and enjoy!
10. (May also be served on platters or in bowls/plates)
