1 pk stewing steak
Onion and mushrooms (finely chopped) - optional
1 tin baked beans
1 tin chopped tomatoes
Potatoes, Carrots, broccolli' parsnip' swede (use a variety of root vegetables)
Frozen peas & sweetcorn
splash soy sauce
2 beef stock cubes
large squirt of tomato ketchup
Gravy granules to thicken

1. brown stewing steak in a large oven proof pan

2. Saute onions and mushrooms (optional)

3. Peel & chop all root veg and potatoes into large bite size chunks

4. Open tins and add to large pan (or you could use a slow cooker) along with potatoes and root vegetables

5. Add soy sauce, ketchup and crumbled stock cubes

6. Add enough water to cover all veg then bring to boil before covering with the lid and transferring to a low oven (130C) for about 3 hours

7. After 3 hours add frozen peas and sweetcorn and check that potatoes and veg are cooked ok

8. Return to oven (after adding dumplings as per recipe on Suet pack if required)

9. Once dumplings cooked/after about a further 30 mins put the stew on the hob and add gravy granules until the required consistency is achieved

10. Then dish the stew up!
