Caramel sauce

Ingredients
4 tbls butter
1/2 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Lemon or vanilla
Water
Directions
1. Melt butter in a frying pan.
2. Stir in flour until thick and pasty. Lightly brown flour mixture.
3. Add brown sugar and cook until bubbly.
4. Add about 3-4 cups of cold water and cook stirring constantly until about the thickness and texture of gravy.
5. Add a pinch of salt and lemon or vanilla.
6. Serve over yellow cake
