Cottage pie
Recipe by3 tablespoons of butter, melted
1 lg onion, diced medium
2 large carrots, cut into 3/4 in pieces
salt
pepper
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 lb ground beef
2 teaspoons thyme
1 cup dark beer
3/4 cup frozen peas
1-2 potatoes very thinly sliced
Prep. Time → 30 min
Cook Time → 45 min
1. Preheat oven to 400.
2. In a large skillet, heat 1tablespoon butter over medium high.
3. Add onions and carrots, 5 min.
4. Stir in tomato paste.
5. Add meat until cooked through.
6. Add thyme and beer. Bring to a boil.
7. Sprinkle flour and stir to combine.
8. Add 1 cup of water and cook until mixture thickens, 2 min.
9. Stir in peas, season with salt and pepper.
10. Transfer mixture to a 2 quart baking dish.
11. Top with potatoes, overlapping slices.
12. Drizzle potatoes with butter.
13. In the oven for 45 min.
