French breakfast puffs
Recipe by1/3 cup soft shortening
½ cup sugar
1 egg
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. nutmeg
½ cup milk
Cinnamon Sugar
½ cup butter, melted
½ cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Prep. Time → 30 min
Cook Time → 25 min
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix shortening, ½ cup sugar, and egg.
Measure flour by dip-level-pour method. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; stir in alternately with milk. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Immediately roll in melted butter, then in mixture of ½ cup sugar and cinnamon.
Makes 12 regular size puffs or 24 mini puffs.
