340g self-raising flour 125g butter 240g caster sugar 2 tablespoons golden syrup 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 egg

Directions
1. 1. Pre-heat an oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4 and grease a baking tray.
2. 2. Mix the caster sugar, flour, bicarbonate of soda and ginger in a large mixing bowl.
3. 3. Melt the butter and golden syrup and add to the mixing bowl. Add a beaten egg and mix.
4. 4.Roll into small balls on the greased baking tray a good distance apart.
5. 5.Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
