1. This is my family's turkey stuffing recipe. Pretty different from most others. I think it has German origins as I see similar meat-based stuffings from these regions. Also ground seasoned meats or force-meat were common stuffings birds from way back. Birds were expensive and the meat for the stuffing were the cuts off of roasts and such that were scraps. Bread and other things were just as dear as these meat scraps. This is one dish I almost always make - even if it's just for me after I visit friends or relatives who don't make it.
2. 1. Heat oil in pan, then add onions, celery, and green pepper and fry slowly for 15 min.
3. 2. Add ground beef and fry until meat is cooked through. Make sure you stir at the beginning so the beef does not clump - and separates.
4. 3. Remove from heat and add milk
5. 4. Stir in bread crumbs, salt and pepper
6. 5. Let cool. Can be put in casserole dish and heated for 1/2 hr. before serving at 350 degrees (cover dish)
7. 6. Recipe can be doubled if needed.
