2 quarts water
1 quart vinegar
2/3 cup course salt
1/2 tsp alum

Directions
1. Bring to a boil, pour brine over the cucumbers, asparagus, carrots or any vegetable you wish to pickle. Put 3-4 thin slivers of garlic in each jar. Fills 6-7 1 quart jars.
