Grandma's beet pickles

Ingredients for Whomever
2 cups vinegar
2 cups water
4 tsp course salt
1 cup sugar
1tsp whole cloves

Directions
1. Clean and cook and peel beets
Sterilize jars and lids
Bring brine to a boil and pour over beets and seal
2. Single batch of brine does 2-3 1 quart jars
Double batch does 4-5 1 quart jars
Note: I had 20 jars and I 6X the recipe (just)
