Kallumakkaya-kadukka-kakka irachi roast/ mussels fry

Kallumakkaya/Mussels-250 grms(cooked with salt and pinch of turmeric (notes)
Shallots/small onion-10-15 chopped/sliced finely
Ginger-1 tblspn crushed
Garlic-1 tbpsn crushed
Green chilli-2 crushed
Red chilli powder-1 1/2 tspn
Coriander powder-1 tspn
Turmeric powder-1/2 tspn
Pepper powder-1/2 - 3/4 tspn ( adjust )
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds-1/4 tspn
Salt
Oil.
1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.Add crushed ginger,garlic and green chillies and saute till the raw smell goes.Then add small onion and curry leaves and stir well till onions are golden brown.Add masala powders in low flame ( don't burn the masala ) and saute for one more mint.Then add the cooked kallumakkaya/mussels ,sprinkle enough salt and saute continuously till the mussels turn slightly crispy and the oil starts to ooz out from the masala.This will take 5- 10 mints.
2. Notes: I used store bought frozen and fully cooked mussels.You just have to remove the shells ,clean the dirt and remove the black part in the bottom of the mussel meat well.( They need no be cooked again with turmeric pwdr)
3. If you are using fresh mussels,then wash and clean the mussel shells well and place them in a pot with enough water and boil till the shells open. ( Do not use shells that have not opened)Then remove the shells.clean the mussel meat as explained above and then cook them with little water,salt amd turmeric powder.
