Malteasers delight cake

For the base
180g Unsalted butter, softened
180g Golden caster sugar
3 Eggs
180g Self-raising flour
25g Malted milk powder
25g Cocoa powder
4 tbsp Milk

For the filling/topping
250g Icing sugar
40g Malted milk powder
25g Cocoa powder
125g Unsalted butter, softened
2 tbsp Boiling water
135g Malteasers

Cook Time → 25 min

1. Preheat your oven to 180c/160f fan/Gas 4

2. Grease and line two 18cm round sandwich tins

3. Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy

4. Next, add the eggs, flour, malted milk powder and cocoa powder, and milk, then beat until smooth and creamy

5. Split the mix between your tins and bake for 25 mins

6. When your cakes are firm, pop them out and allow to cool

7. Extremely Chocolaty Icing
Pop you icing Sugar, malted milk and cocoa powder in a food processor, and pulse a few times

8. Add the butter to you mix and pulse again

9. Pour in the boiling water and mix until its nice and gooey. Add a little more water if you need to

10. Scoop half the icing into a small bowl, then blend 35g of the Malteasers into tiny pieces

11. Mix your Malteasers in the icing and spread over one of the sponges

12. Place the second sponge on top and cover with the remaining icing

13. Have fun sprinkling on your Malteasers to finish
