Old fashioned sugar cookies

Ingredients

½ cup shortening ¾ cup sugar 1 egg ½ tsp. vanilla ½ tsp. grated orange peel, if desired 2 cups flour ¼ tsp. salt ½ tsp. baking powder 2 to 3 Tbsp. milk

Directions

1. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Add vanilla and grated orange peel. Add dry ingredients with milk; mix thoroughly. Roll 18 inch thick in lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar. Bake in 375 oven for 12 minutes.
