Shepherd's pie
Recipe by2 lbs. of ground beef
1 lb. ground Italian sausage (or sausage with the casing removed)
1 box Stove Top Stuffing (I like the Pork stuffing)
1 12 oz. can cream of corn
1 12 oz. can peas (or peas and carrots combined)
2 bags of frozen Ore-Ida Mashers
2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
Butter
Milk
Worcestershire sauce
6 garlic cloves
salt & pepper
1/4 cup cream cheese
Prep. Time → 45 min
Cook Time → 30 min
1. In a saute pan warm a bit of olive oil and add minced garlic.
2. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage and brown until done. Adding worcestershire and pepper to taste. Drain off any fat.
3. At the same time prepare the stuffing according to box directions.
4. When the meat and stuffing are ready transfer them to a large bowl. Mix together until well blended. Spread the mixture into a 9x12 casserole dish that has been lightly oiled.
5. In another bowl mix the cream corn and peas together and stir to combine. Spread this layer over the stuffing meat layer. Cover this layer with half of the shredded cheese.
6. Prepare the mashed potatoes as directed on the package. You will need butter, milk, and I like to add a 1/8 cup of cream cheese. You may want to salt the mashed potatoes lightly.
7. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the corn and peas layer. Spread shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
8. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 to 30 minutes. The food is all cooked you just want the cheese to melt and brown a bit on top.
