Split pea soup

Ingredients for 10 servings
1 ham bone (chopped most of meat)
1 pound split peas (2 cup)
2 quarts cold water
1 carrot chopped
1 celery stalk chopped
1 onion chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Directions
1. wash peas and soak for three hours in the water; drain. {if split peas do not require soaking, see package, just add all ingredients at once}
2. Add all other ingredients and cook two hours on stove, over medium heat, stir occasionally, remove bone add chopped meat and serve.
