Treasure chest bars
Recipe bySift together & set aside: 2 cup flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Cream together well
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar ½ cup butter Add to this:
2 eggs (one at a time, beat well after each)
1 tsp. vanilla
Prep. Time → 10 min
Cook Time → 30 min
1. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with ¾ cup milk. When mixed well, fold in 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped nuts.
(I sometimes omit nuts and double the chocolate chips).
Spread in a 10x15” jelly roll pan, greased and floured. (I also sometimes use a 9x13” pan, baking a little longer.) Bake at 350o for 25-30 minutes. Frost while warm.
Icing: ¼ cup melted butter, 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, ½ tsp. vanilla, about 2 tablespoons cream or milk.
